Ireland and Catalonia show their cultural heritage in Sitges
Museums of Sitges are helping once again in organizing The Creative Connections Festival. From Thursday 27th to Sunday 30th, Sitges will be the meeting point of Catalan and Irish cultures, including cross-sectional events as diverse as music, folklore, literature, theater and dance.
The fourth edition of Creative Connections will feature sixty artists from different disciplines and backgrounds that will fill content in over thirty events planned, three of which will be held at Palau Maricel. The remaining activities will take place at unusual places in Sitges such as Cap de la Vila or Central Square, Passeig de la Ribera or the Promenade, the Slaughterhouse or Retiro gardens, also including art galleries and private concerns that will also sponsor the festival.
The event is run by Caroline Wynne, an Irish woman, while Brandon Jones, a well known inhabitant of Sitges of Welsh origin, leads the area of documentation. Both claim, in its written submission this year, "Sitges is the perfect host to join Celtic and Catalan identity through culture." Two historical nations that, just like Sitges, hoard a rich and varied cultural legacy.
