Virtual recreation of the Saló d'Or
The Consorci del Patrimoni de Sitges has presented a pilot virtual recreation of the Golden Hall at Maricel Palace, developed in collaboration with the Catalan Heritage Agency. The project digitally restores the original appearance of the space between 1915 and 1918, during the Charles Deering period, combining historical research, archival photography and immersive technology.
Using mobile devices, visitors can view artworks, sculptures and furniture within the real space that once formed part of the Deering Collection and are now dispersed across museums and private collections worldwide. The reconstruction was created using 360-degree panoramic images, original textures and the digital restoration of pieces that disappeared or were relocated after 1921.
The recreation includes works by Goya, Zurbarán and Josep Clarà, among others, and helps recover the original museographic vision promoted by Charles Deering and Miquel Utrillo. The interactive prototype, developed with the Panoee platform, features interconnected panoramic views and information in three languages, opening new possibilities for the use of digital reality in cultural heritage.
