The archaeologist and museologist Pere Izquierdo i Tugas (Gavà, 1963) has been appointed managing director of the Sitges Heritage Consortium, with provisional character until April 30. In this way, the job position, which had been vacant past February 15 for the retirement of Vinyet Panyella, who hel that possition since December 2011 - is covered and guarantees the proper functioning of the museums and the continuity of the projects currently on course.
Pere Izquierdo has been working at the Sitges Heritage Consortium since May 2013 and in recent years has assumed the Technical Section of Equipments and Projects from where he has participated in projects such as the reform of the Palau de Maricel, the adaptation of Can Falç, the revision of the Subaquatic Archaeological Chart of Sitges or the documentation of the recent findings in excavations at Puig de Sitges. Previously, he had been the director of the Patronat de Museus Municipals de Sabadell (1992-94), the Museum of Archeology of Catalonia (February 2007 - September 2008) and the Office of Cultural Heritage of the Diputació de Barcelona (February 2012 - April 2013). He has participated in sixty archaeological excavations, of which he has directed 27.
Between the years 2003 and 2008 he was a member of the Board of Trustees of the National Museum of Art of Catalonia and of his delegated commission; He has published the collective work La nissaga catalana del món classic (2010); He has participated in eleven books from different cultural disciplines; He has given a hundred long lectures and has been a regular lecturer in postgraduate courses in museology, heritage management and underwater archeology of various Catalan universities, among other initiatives and activities of his civic and cultural career.
