A team from the Google Art Project that came from England, visited recently the Museums of Sitges to start the integration of the museums of Sitges in this online platform dedicated to the world of art. The first stage involved photographing the most representative works of the museums in Sitges with s very advanced photographic system, which allows to obtain highly accurate images and appreciate their main details. The second stage of the project, which is being developed in parallel, is the production of content that will accompany the images of selected works.
All this, together with administrative loose ends that still need adjustment, will allow the Museum of Sitges to be the third cultural institution in the country to be part of the Google Art Project, next to the National Art Museum of Catalonia and the Episcopal Museum Vic. The incorporation of Museums of Sitges is scheduled for early 2016 with the intent of granting international renown to our heritage sites.
The Google Art Project is an online platform that allows to access high-resolution images that are in museums around the world. The initiative that emerged in early 2011, allows users to make a virtual walk around the galleries of museums that are part of the project. A full-fledged invitation for visiting them in person.
