The reopening of Cau Ferrat and Maricel Museum, on December 22, meant a significant injection of visitors to facilities managed by the Heritage Consortium of Sitges. On the anniversary marking six months after reopening, 38.112 people visited the two museums, an average of 200 visitors per day, considering that on weekends the figure soars in relation to working days.
The 38.112 visitors received by the Cau Ferrat and Maricel are the cornerstone of the 52.228 visits received by all the areas managed by the Consortium during the first six months (besides Cau Ferrat and Maricel Museum, the Consortium also manages Maricel Palace and the Stämpfli Foundation, since the Romantic Museum is closed for renovation). This number corresponds to both visitors and participants in various scheduled activities.
The high rate of visits of Cau Ferrat and Maricel Museum was also noticeable in the Maricel Palace, which was visited during the first six months by 10.737 people, including guided tours every Sunday or in the various open activities contained in the schedule. The option of guided tours in three languages (Catalan, Spanish and English) at Palau Maricel already became a stable activity in the cultural and touristic agenda of Sitges.
Attendance figures consolidated Museums of Sitges as one of the main tourist attractions currently boosting cultural tourism. Indeed, last week, Museums of Sitges organized a visit for managers and receptionists of hotels in Sitges in order to convey to tourists an interest for our museums.
