Maricel Palace will reopen doors every Sunday from this week. After the summer campaign, and as usual since the beginning of 2013, our flagship building will be open to commented tours. The tours will be at 11am in English and at 12pm and 1pm in Catalan and Spanish.
The tour includes Racó de la Calma or "Quiet Corner", the courtyard, lobby, chapel, Gold Room, terraces, cloister, the Blue Room and Sala Vaixells or "Hall of Boats". Besides the building, the tour will allow visitors to admire collections and exhibits and know their history. The Maricel Palace was built between 1910 and 1918 commissioned by the American billionaire Charles Deering. The works were directed by Miquel Utrillo, and allowed to convert the former medieval hospital into a sumptuous "Noucentista" palace with decorative elements from different ages and backgrounds.
During the summer, included in the agenda of Sitgestiu Cultural, tours around the Maricel Palace are scheduled almost daily and have received a high number of visitors, especially tourists. The visits were made through guided tours in the mornings and in the afternoons, the latter ones including a recital of castanets.
The price of the activity is 5 euros. Previous booking calling 93 894 03 64 is a must.
