Museus de Sitges abre sus puertas al patrimonio para celebrar el Día Internacional de los Museos
Sitges Museums joins the celebration of International Museum Day for another year, which takes place on May 18, with a special program during the weekend of May 16 and 17. Under the international motto of this edition, Museums uniting a divided world, the proposal invites you to rediscover the heritage spaces of Sitges through free activities designed for all audiences.
The celebration is presented as an opportunity to claim the role of museums as spaces for meeting, knowledge and dialogue, capable of generating links between people, memories and communities. In this context, Sitges Museums proposes a weekend of activities that combines heritage, cultural experience and citizen participation.
The program includes guided tours of exhibitions and heritage spaces, open days and unique proposals such as a night tour of the Palau de Maricel with a musical audition by the Sitges Canta choir. It also includes virtual recreation experiences of the Saló d'Or of the Palau de Maricel, which allow visitors to approach the heritage from an innovative and immersive perspective.
One of the highlights will be a Night Walk through the Palau de Maricel, on Saturday evening, a proposal that will allow visitors to discover the spaces of the Palau in an exceptional atmosphere and will feature the musical accompaniment of the Sitges Canta choir. On Sunday, the museum facilities will offer open doors so that the public can visit the collections and current exhibitions for free.
The celebration will also include guided tours, on Saturday, of the exhibition Absences and Presences. Charles Deering's Artists in the Banc Sabadell Art Collection and, on Sunday, tours of the Palau de Maricel with a virtual recreation of the Saló d'Or, an activity that combines technology and heritage to offer new ways of interpreting historical spaces.
With this program, Sitges Museums reinforces its desire to bring cultural heritage closer to the public and claims the museum as a living space, accessible and connected to the challenges and sensitivities of the present.
