Museus de Sitges promotes seven cultural activities to celebrate Sant Jordi with the collaboration of entities in the town
Sitges Museums presents a special program with seven cultural activities that will take place between April 11 and 25 on the occasion of Sant Jordi's Day, one of the most emblematic celebrations of Catalan culture. The cycle has the collaboration of several entities in the town, such as the AFA of the Escola Pia and the Santiago Rusiñol Library, and offers a transversal proposal that links literature, art and heritage. In this edition, the figures of Santiago Rusiñol and Lola Anglada have a prominent role.
The program combines educational activities, literary proposals and immersive experiences in museum spaces with the aim of bringing heritage closer to diverse audiences and encouraging their active participation.
April 11 — Saturday Workshop at the Pia School: “Rusiñol and Literature”
From 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Pia School in Sitges
Creative workshop aimed at children aged 5 to 11 and their families, focused on L’auca del Senyor Esteve, by Santiago Rusiñol, with the collaboration of the AFA of the Pia School. Participants will create an artist’s book interpreting scenes from the work through drawing, collage and the manipulation of materials. The activity aims to promote creativity and knowledge of literary modernism in a playful and participatory way.
April 16 — Closing of the Santiago Rusiñol Reading Club: “La nit de l’amor”
At 5:30 p.m., at the Casino Prado Suburense
Final session of the fifth season of the reading club, led by Andreu Bosch. The meeting will include the reading of excerpts, a discussion and the contextualization of Rusiñol's work, highlighting the validity of his thought and his contribution to Catalan literature.
April 18 — Literary visit to the Cau Ferrat Museum
At 10:30 a.m. (Catalan) and 12:30 p.m. (Spanish)
Guided tour led by Andreu Bosch that offers a tour of the creative universe of Santiago Rusiñol and establishes connections between painting, literature and modernist thought. During the visit, the influence of artists such as Ramon Casas, Picasso and El Greco in the cultural context of the time will be highlighted.
April 18 — Meeting of children's readers
At 11 a.m., on the terrace of the Santiago Rusiñol Library
Activity organized in collaboration with the Santiago Rusiñol Library that invites children under 12 to share the reading of En Peret, by Lola Anglada. The proposal combines reading, participation and discovery of Catalan children's literary heritage in a fun and community environment.
April 18 — Reading marathon for adults
At 7 p.m., in the Gothic Hall of the Maricel Museum
Literary evening in which the public will be able to listen to readings aloud of texts from Santiago Rusiñol's epistolary work, as well as dramatizations of monologues such as L'escudellòmetre, Feminista and La minyona suïcida. The activity highlights the author's scenic and literary dimension in a close and participatory environment.

At 7:30 p.m., in the Maricel Museum
Presentation of the work by the authors Andreu Bosch and Juan Carlos Rodríguez. The volume collects articles by Rusiñol published in the satirical magazine between 1908 and 1909, many of which are unpublished or little known, and offers a critical, still valid, look at Catalan society at the time.
April 25 — “Quan la pintura parla!” and opening of the 7th Antoni Sella i Montserrat Literary Short Story Competition
At 6 p.m., at the Cau Ferrat Museum and the Maricel Museum
Literary and artistic proposal with the participation of Lídia Gázquez, Xavier Lahoz, Xavier Saladrigas and Raquel Casas, winners in previous editions of the Antoni Sella i Montserrat Literary Short Story Competition, who will give voice to works from the museum through contemporary texts. The tour connects painting, sculpture and literature in an interdisciplinary experience that culminates with the opening of the seventh edition of the competition.
This set of activities highlights the relationship between literature and heritage and consolidates Museus de Sitges as an active agent in the celebration of Sant Jordi, generating meeting spaces between creators, the public and the town's institutions.
The activities are open to the public, with limited capacity in some cases. It is recommended to make a reservation in advance through the Museus de Sitges website or at the museum reception.
