Three opera sessions and three jazz sessions stand out with their own character in the Sitgestiu 2025 program, the cultural offering from the Museus de Sitges for the months of July and August. Opera and jazz are two classics of Sitgestiu and represent activities highly sought after by a diverse and heterogeneous audience, both local and visiting.
Jazz. The group Retrio, once again, plays a leading role in the cultural programming of the Museus de Sitges. On one hand, they will perform popular music recitals in jazz and swing style, this year debuting a new venue: the viewpoint of the Maricel Museum (July 15 and 29). In recent years, this concert had taken place at the Cau Ferrat Museum.
Additionally, Retrio will present the "Jazz de Fiesta Mayor" concert on Wednesday, August 20, with two sessions (8:00 pm and 9:30 pm), if the first one sells out. This recital will be held at the Racó de la Calma.
Opera. Puccini will once again be heard in the Golden Hall of the Maricel Palace, with a pocket version of Tosca, coinciding with the 125th anniversary of its premiere in a theater in Rome on January 14, 1900. Under the direction of Elke Sanjosé—who is also the pianist—the cast includes Caitlin Redding, Eduardo Ituarte, Alberto Cazes, and Lucas Groppo. Tosca will be performed on Sundays, July 20 and August 10.
The other lyrical proposal of Sitgestiu is the open-air opera (August 6), which will bring some of the greatest hits of all time to the Racó de la Calma, including arias, duets, and concert songs. The recital will be performed by the Petita Companyia Lírica de Barcelona, featuring a soprano, a mezzo-soprano, and a pianist
