Sitgestiu proposes sensory experiences that link heritage with the culture of taste
Full Moon Sunset, Aromatic Walk paired with Wines and Cava, Aromatic Concert, Modernist Night Walk with Malvasia Ice Cream and Outdoor Music and Wine Pairing are the five proposals of Sitgestiu 2025, organized by Sitges Museums this July and August and which provide a new way to approach the heritage of Sitges through sensory experiences.
The Sitgestiu program is made up of concerts (opera, classical, jazz), guided tours, family workshops and also a set of five proposals to discover the heritage by combining it with taste or olfactory experiences, in which the wines of the territory take on a relevant role. These five proposals (of which, three are held over two days) constitute an innovative way to approach the cultural and historical story of Sitges' heritage.
Full Moon Sunset. It is a Sitgestiu classic, but it continues to seduce the public, as it opens the door to enjoying the landscape of the moon that bathes the Mediterranean when it is full. In the two sessions of this astronomical event (which this summer will be the nights of July 10 and August 9), attendees have the opportunity to tour the Maricel complex, both the museum and the Palau, and enjoy the unbeatable views of the moonlight with a glass of cava.
Aromatic Walk paired with wines and cava. Another way to tour Maricel (in this case, the Palau) is through the Aromatic Walk paired with wines and cava: an olfactory tour led by perfumer Irene Gisbert and sommelier Mercè Sumarroca. The proposal takes you on a journey through the heritage and history of Maricel, accompanied by a tasting of wines and perfumes.
Aromatic Concert. Aromas are also protagonists in Sitgestiu with the concerts that the perfumer Irene Gisbert herself and the duo made up of pianist Gregori Ferrer and saxophonist Miquel Bofill will star in at the Sala Gòtica of Maricel Museum, accompanied by a glass of cava. They will perform works by Eduard Toldrà, Albert Guinovart, Isaac Albéniz, Maurice Ravel, Erik Satie, Claude Debussy, Astor Piazzolla and George Gershwin.
Modernist night walk with malvasia ice cream. Another way to savor the senses in the Sitgestiu program is on the night tour through the modernist architecture of the center of Sitges, which ends at the Cau Ferrat Museum. This activity, incorporated last year into the program, allows attendees to also enjoy a malvasia ice cream, made by Irene Iborra, from the Mamá Heladería establishment.
Music and wine pairing al fresco. Sitgestiu will close on August 31st with a music and wine pairing at Racó de la Calma. It is a musical journey in which three composers from seemingly distant worlds (Gustav Holst, Albert Guinovart and Sarah Quartel) are united by a subtle and powerful thread: the poetic word and the natural landscape. Music here becomes a vehicle for contemplation, denunciation and connection with the deepest essence of the human being and the world around them. The recital is performed by the female choir Scherzo, directed by Esteve Nabona.
