Txema Romero will be the new director of the Consorci del Patrimoni de Sitges

Txema Romero has been director of the Cerdanyola del Vallès Art Museum since 2011, has a PhD in Art History from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and is a specialist in Catalan art and architecture, especially from the Modernist and Noucentist periods. He has worked as a curator and art critic responsible for various exhibitions, lectures and publications on Modernism and Noucentism.

The new Director of the Consorci del Patrimonio de Sitges has been selected by public competition from among the five candidates who have submitted a report and accreditation of their training and professional merits. Of the five applications admitted in the competition, the project presented by Txema Romero has been the best valued by the expert advisors who have participated in the selection process. They have highlighted the technical quality of the report submitted and the great enthusiasm that spreads with the proposals that have the will to turn the museums of Sitges into leaders and/or references in the national and international museum field.

Txema Romero will join as director of the museums of Sitges on February 1 to be able to adequately meet the commitments of his current position as director of the Museu d’Art de Cerdanyola del Vallès.
Txema Romero will replace Mercè Munné, who was appointed acting director on January 1, 2022 after the Consorci's Management position became vacant when the previous call for applications was declared void. Mercè Munné will continue in the Consorci providing support and specialized technical advice to the new Management from her position as Assistant Director.

The Deputy for Culture of the Barcelona Provincial Council, Pau González, has thanked the current director and the entire Consorci team for their work, who have managed to maintain the activity of the Sitges museums at a high level of quality over the last three years, as well as promoting a plan for the organisation and professionalisation of the management of the institution that will allow the new Management to successfully face all the future challenges facing the Sitges museums.
