The cultural agenda of Sitges Museums does not stop for the Holy Week. A day dedicated to Charles Deering, an extensive program of guided tours around the Maricel Palace and the exhibition From Modernisme to the Avant-garde, Drawings from the Mapfre Foundation's collection outline the cultural proposals for the coming days.
On Saturday 13th, the Sitges Heritage Consortium has scheduled a day dedicated to the promoter of Maricel, the industrialist and collector Charles Deering. On the occasion of the visit of representatives from the Deering Estate in Miami to Sitges, where they will visit the museums and the Palace-, a day will be held dedicated to Charles Deering. From 6 pm, at the Golden Hall of the Maricel Palace, the writer and ex-director of Museums of Sitges, Vinyet Panyella, will lecture on Charles Deering: collector and benefactor, that will be assisted by the projection of two documentaries: On this land. The Charles Deering Estate and the Centennial Exhibition of Maricel (1918-2018).
On the following day, Sunday 14, the program of guided tours around the Maricel Palace begins. For eight days, the Palace will offer commented tours: Sunday 14, Tuesday 16, Wednesday 17, Thursday 18, Friday 19, Saturday 20 and Sunday 21. The guided tours will be in English (at 11:00 a.m.), in Catalan (at 12:00 a.m.) and in Spanish (at 1:00 p.m.) and offer the possibility to visit the Golden Hall, the Blue Room, the Chapel Room, the terraces and the cloister.
At the same time, on Tuesday, there will be a guided tour to visit the exhibition "From Modernisme to the Avant-garde", Drawings from the Mapfre Foundation Collection, at the Maricel Museum. The guided tours will be in English (at 3:00 p.m.), in Spanish (at 4:00 p.m.) and in Catalan (at 5:00 p.m.). The exhibition features 47 works by artists such as Marià Fortuny, Auguste Rodin, Edgar Degas, Paul Klee, Henri Matisse, Salvador Dalí or Joan Miró, among other masters of modern art.
