Visit "Miró. Art and territory" will arrive on November 26 in Sitges with a dialogue between Joan Miró and Santiago Rusiñol
A total of twenty art museums from all over Catalonia are participating in the cycle “Miró. Art and Territory”, which will take place between September and December to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Joan Miró Foundation. The Sitges Museums will join them on November 26, at 6 p.m., with the dialogue “Miró-Rusiñol, journey and escape”, starring Vinyet Panyella and Xavier Albertí at the Maricel Museum, and which will bring together the creative universes of Joan Miró and Santiago Rusiñol. The conversations will establish a dialogue between the creative universe of Joan Miró and the collections, stories and lines of work of the participating museums, generating new readings on his legacy. The set of twenty dialogues will offer a plural and contemporary look at the work and thought of Joan Miró, connecting his legacy with the territory and bringing together forty specialists from the fields of art, research, literature and philosophy.
The Network of Art Museums of Catalonia is launching the dialogue cycle “Miró. Art and Territory” to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the Fundació Joan Miró. The project was born after the success of the first edition of the cycle, “Tàpies. Art and Territory”, promoted in 2024 within the framework of the Year of Tàpies to commemorate the centenary of the artist’s birth. That initiative consolidated a model of shared dialogue between the museums of the Network that now continues with a new edition dedicated to Joan Miró.
“Miró. Art and Territory” is a collective initiative that will bring together twenty art museums throughout Catalonia with the aim of vindicating one of the most universal figures in Catalan art and opening up new perspectives on his work and thought. The program connects Miró’s legacy with the collections, stories and lines of work of the facilities that are part of the Network.
Each session will bring together two specialists linked to the fields of art, research, literature or philosophy to discuss a specific aspect of Joan Miró’s universe. Over the course of three months, forty voices will contribute to building a collective view of the artist, relating his work to the territory, the cultural history of the country and the museums that guard and interpret this shared heritage.
Miró and Rusiñol dialogue in Sitges
The Sitges Museums will participate in the cycle on November 26, at 6 p.m., with the dialogue “Miró-Rusiñol, journey and escape”, starring Vinyet Panyella and Xavier Albertí.
The conversation will relate the figures of Joan Miró and Santiago Rusiñol based on the journey and escape, establishing a dialogue between two fundamental creative universes of Catalan art and culture.
The proposal will allow Sitges to incorporate the gaze of Sitges into this collective journey through the Miró universe and connect Miró’s legacy with a figure closely linked to the cultural history of the town like Santiago Rusiñol.

The dialogues will address issues as diverse as Miró's relationship with the land and landscape, the links between art, literature, music and spirituality, as well as the creative complicity with figures such as Picasso, Josep Lluís Sert or Leandre Cristòfol. This diversity of perspectives will draw a map of affinities, influences and resonances that will allow us to understand Miró's relevance and his ability to continue to challenge the present.
The first dialogue will take place on September 10 at the Tarragona Provincial Council Museum of Modern Art and the last will be held on December 12 at the Apel·les Fenosa Museum. For four months, "Miró. Art and territory" will travel the country through the museums of the Network, configuring an itinerary of thought around the artist.
The entirety of this journey will be collected in a publication that will bring together the reflections and debates that arose during the cycle and will offer a collective testimony of the multiple readings that Joan Miró's work continues to generate today.
