Twelve works from the Cau Ferrat Museum that have been on loan to exhibitions in Vila-seca, Granada and Albacete in recent months have returned to the museum these days. These are paintings by Santiago Rusiñol, Ramon Casas, Miquel Utrillo and Arcadi Mas i Fondevila, as well as four pieces of ceramics from Rusiñol's collection.
The works have participated in three different exhibitions: Modernism (Castell de Vila-seca), Rusiñol y la Alhambra. El despertar de un poeta (Palacio Carlos V de l'Alhambra de Granada) and La loza de Hollín: brillo y color (Museu d'Albacete). In all three cases, the pieces have contributed to reinforcing the respective exhibition discourses and, at the same time, have become an element of projection of the Cau Ferrat collections.
The two works that were on display in Vila-seca and are now back in Sitges are two paintings by Ramon Casas: Carro de vuit mules de tir (1889) and Retrat d'Enric Borràs interpretant Manelic, de Terra Baixa (c. 1910).
Three paintings by Rusiñol with themes linked to Granada have been exhibited at the Alhambra – Granadina (1895), Palau abandonat (1898) and Cantaora andalusa aseguda (1898) –, in addition to a work by Miquel Utrillo (Oracions, 1897), one by Arcadi Mas i Fondevila (Escalinata amb testos, 1895) and a four-hand painting between Rusiñol and Casas (Retratant-se, 1890).
The four ceramic pieces lent to the Albacete Museum are three plates and a blue glazed earthenware plate – the latter with orange and blue trim –. The oldest is from the second half of the 17th century and the most recent from the first third of the 19th century. Three have animal decorations and another has plant motifs.
