The exhibition New Acquisitions for New Stories. The National Collection 2024—on view at the Can Rocamora Gallery until the end of the year—features three talks that provide context for the works on display. These three lectures, under the common title Links, address specific and significant aspects of the artists on display.
The first talk will be held tomorrow, Friday, and features Lluís Puig i Cadafalç and his wrought iron ring door handle. Lluïsa Amenós and Fátima López will present the work and the arts of wrought iron. In two weeks, it will be the turn of film and comics, based on the illustrations of Jacint Bofarull, with speakers such as the director of the Film Festival, Àngel Sala, and the bookseller Lilianna Marín. The final talk will be given by art historian Beli Artigas and writer Sebastià Portell and will focus on the figure of the sculptor Ismael Smith and his relationship with Maricel.
The Vincles program is part of the Laboratory of Arts and Modernism project and complements the exhibition New Acquisitions for New Stories: The National Collection 2024, which presents works from the Art Collection of the Generalitat de Catalunya and that have been deposited in the museums of Sitges. The exhibition aims to be a window open to the new stories that these pieces contribute to the heritage, enriching and expanding its narratives. The works respond to a desire to review and update historical and artistic discourses, with a special interest in giving voice to diverse and contemporary perspectives.
