The exhibition of 'L'Amic de les Arts' culminates after having highlighted the relevant influence of the magazine
The exhibition L'Amic de les Arts. Art and Poetry in Sitges, 1926-1929, inaugurated last November in the Sala Vaixells of the Maricel Palace, ended last week after being visited by 3,654 people, a diverse audience who enjoyed the exhibition over the course of its four-month run. The exhibition's high level of specialized interest was highlighted, highlighting its academic depth and its impact on the dissemination of Sitges's cultural history.
This retrospective, curated by Aitor Quiney, PhD in Art History, has highlighted the influence of the magazine L'Amic de les Arts, published in Sitges between 1926 and 1929, and its fundamental role in the dissemination of avant-garde artistic and literary movements in Catalonia.
The exhibition brings together more than one hundred works of art, documents, and correspondence from leading figures in the art and literature of the period, including Salvador Dalí, Joan Miró, Joaquín Torres-García, Rafael Barradas, Pau Gargallo, and Federico García Lorca, among many others. This selection has allowed visitors to gain a closer look at the magazine's relationship with surrealism, constructivism, and other avant-garde movements, as well as its connection with the intellectual circles of the time.
