The Great Hall of the Cau Ferrat Museum has been the subject of a thorough cleaning and maintenance work, which has allowed access to unusual corners next to the ceiling, as well as intervention in various works to ensure its good conservation. The work has required the assembly of a scaffolding to be able to work at height and has lasted a week.
The operation has allowed intervention in structural elements, such as corbels, cornices and decorative pieces (among them, stained glass, wrought iron elements, glass...), which, due to their location, in high parts, are not cleaned regularly. To carry out the process, the technical teams have used brushes, trowels and a vacuum cleaner.
In addition, the work has dedicated special cleaning attention to various works in the Great Hall. This is the case of the 15th century carved, polychrome and gilded wooden crucifix, along with the two paintings by El Greco. A thorough cleaning intervention has also been carried out on the work by Guillermo Ferrer from the end of the 14th century Altarpiece of the Virgin Mary, Saint John the Baptist and Saint Peter the Apostle and on a wrought iron lamppost from the Santiago Rusiñol Collection.
Likewise, the work has intervened on some paintings by Santiago Rusiñol (The Prayer, Ecstasy, Miss Mac Flower, Miss Nantas or Enric Morera directing the Catalunya Nova choir, among others) and by Ignacio Zuloaga (The Partition of the Wine). In these cases, the opportunity has been taken to tighten the fabrics and clean the corners.
