Opera will be a notable protagonist of Sitgestiu Cultural 2016, with a comprehensive program that will double scenario: the viewpoint of Maricel Museum and the Golden Room of Palau Maricel. Sitgestiu Cultural, which this year celebrates 20 years, starts next July 1 and will fill the cultural agenda of the city with a hundred very different proposals such as: opera, jazz, guitar, harp, artistic routes, visits and workshops for children, among other activities.
The opera has usually been one of the highlights of Sitgestiu Cultural. Friday evening sessions which represents some of the greatest lyrics hits are part of the regular program of Sitgestiu. This year, these concerts are divided between Friday (8 July and 5 and 19 August) and Saturday (2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 July, 6, 13, 20 and 27 August and 3 September). That is, for three weekends of summer there will be two sessions. In all cases, they will take place at the viewpoint of the Maricel Museum, as was done last year, taking advantage of the phenomenal views offered by this space bathed by the Mediterranean and the arches of the Gothic Room.
Meanwhile, the opera will be a protagonist every Sunday evening, in this case, with the pocket opera workshops held at the Golden Room. This year there will be three different ensembles with a total of nine sessions. La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi will be held on 3 and 24 July, 7 and 21 August; L'elisir d'amore of Gaetano Donizetti will be performed on 10 and 17 July; while La Bohème, Giaccomo Puccini will arrive on 31 July and14 and 28 August.
Besides opera, Sitgestiu Cultural will have a full cultural program with other musical functions, visits and workshops, among others. The program will be presented on Friday, 1 July (at 19pm, at the Maricel Museum) with a tasting of some of the musical ideas to fill your poster during the months of July, August and early September.
