Four museums of Sitges Cau Ferrat, the Maricel Museum, Palau Maricel and Romantic Museum - you can visit them virtually through the Google Art Project. This online platform shows the most important art collections in the world and, since its inception six years ago, now, has collected 775 museum and more than 250,000 works by 13,000 different artists.
In the case of Catalonia, Museums of Sitges is the fourth institution in the country that have allowed their entry into the Google Art Project, just behind the National Art Museum of Catalonia, the MEV and the Foundation Rafael Maso Girona (plus seventeen monuments that could be seen through Google Street View).
Along with the four museums in Sitges, have also the Google Art Project Museum also accessed Victor Balaguer ib Vilanova, Pau Casals Foundation in Vendrell, the Museum of Modern Art in Tarragona, the Museum of Science and Technology of Terrassa and the Foundation Joan Abelló in Mollet del Vallès. In addition, during the second round, scheduled for later this year, more than twelve museums will join the initiative from across Catalonia.
The Google Art Project allows users to make 360 degree panoramic views and admire artwork in high resolution. All works are also accompanied with a technical data covering both the work and its author.
