This string quartet, winners of the 2nd place chamber music award in the Mirabent i Magrans Competition, has chosen Mendelssohn’s romanticism as the concert’s central piece with Quartet no 1 Op. 12. The concert will be complemented with a piece by Edvard Grieg and the Mediterranean spirit of “Vistes al mar” by Eduard Toldrà.

This Italian-Argentinean soprano, winner of the 3rd place singing award in the Mirabent i Magrans Competition, offers us a concert entitled “World Music” through which she will look back on the vocal music from the different countries that have influenced her. During the recital she will be accompanied by the pianist Anna Crexells.

Winner of the 2nd place singing award in the Mirabent i Magrans Competition and accompanied on the piano by the sensitivity of Anna Crexells, this Korean soprano will perform a program full of contrasts, combining oratory, lied and opera arias. We will hear pieces by Haydn, Ronald, Mozart or Gounod, among others.

Cavalleria Rusticana is set in a Sicilian town in the late nineteenth century. It is a story of love, jealousy, treason, revenge and death. The veristic opera par excellence, it is one of the most widelyperformed operas. Its popularity has continued until today, partly because some musical fragments, such as the famous intermezzo, have been used in many film soundtracks.

Set in Nagasaki, it explains the tragic story of the geisha Cio-Cio San, better known as Madama Butterfly. Seduced by Pinkerton, an American Navy officer, she marries him, hoping their marriage will last forever. As a result of this culture clash, the only option remaining for Cio-Cio San is death to save her honor.

Come and get to know the Maricel ensemble like you’ve never seen it before. We take you back to the era of splendor, discovering its fabulous past, telling the story of its creators, the American collector Charles Deering, the engineer and art promoter Miquel Utrillo and sculptor Pere Jou. At the end of the tour, we will offer you a glass of Malvasia wine in the Cloister overlooking the sea and featuring the full moon.

The New Realism(s) in Catalonia find their models in the very first Cubism and in the concepts of primitivism and Mediterraneanism of the early twentieth century, which became the defining pillars of Noucentisme. The Museu del Cau Ferrat was founded in 1893 by the artist, writer and collector Santiago Rusiñol as his home-atelier where the Modernista spirit has been fully preserved. On display in the Museo de Maricel you’ll find a complete artistic itinerary from the 10th century to the realism of the 20th century through the art collections of Dr. Jesús Pérez-Rosales and the town of Sitges.

The expansion of these facilities finalizes Peter and Anna Maria Stämpfli’s project to bring together a collection of prestigious international artists specializing in kinetic art. The Maricel art and architectural ensemble (1910-1918) was built by Miquel Utrillo and commissioned by the industrialist and collector Charles Deering. The land side, known as Palau de Maricel, was set aside to exhibit the collections that are now on display at the Chicago Institute of Arts.
