The winners of the 1st and 2nd place singing awards in the Mirabent i Magrans Competition, accompanied on the piano by the excellent Marta Pujol, have prepared a program for us based on arias and duos of the most famous operas known to us. We will be able to hear pieces by Puccini, Händel or Verdi.

This string quartet, winner of the 2nd place chamber music award in the Mirabent i Magrans Competition, has chosen Beethoven’s famous String Quartet No. 6 in B-Flat as the concert’s central piece. With this piece, the quartet will show the audience the entire range of sounds and atmospheres conceived by the genius from Bonn.

Don José flees from the Basque Country to enlist in the cavalry regiment in Seville. There he’ll meet Carmen, an indomitable, free gypsy who will bewitch him. Madly in love, he will give up everything for her, hurtling towards a fatal outcome. Through the eyes of José Lizarrabengoa, a character from the novel by Prosper Merimée, we will review one of the great myths of Hispanic culture: Carmen, the femme fatale.

Set in Nagasaki, it explains the tragic story of the geisha Cio-Cio San, better known as Madame Butterfly. Seduced by Pinkerton, an American Navy officer, she marries him, hoping their marriage will last forever. As a result of this culture clash, the only option remaining for Cio-Cio San is death to save her honor.

Come and get to know the Maricel ensemble like you’ve never seen it before. We take you back to the era of splendor, discovering its fabulous past, telling the story of its creators, the American collector Charles Deering, the engineer and art promoter Miquel Utrillo and sculptor Pere Jou. At the end of the tour, we will offer you a glass of cava in the Cloister overlooking the sea and featuring the full moon.

Touch clay
Workshop dedicated to the Sculptor Gustau Violet
The educational service at the Museums of Sitges has prepared a modeling workshop with clay, where the boys and girls will make a vase. Once the vase has been made, they will decorate it, working with plant elements like the sculptor Gustau Violet. When the workshop is over, the monitor will take the children who wish (always accompanied by an adult) on a short guided tour of the exhibition Sculptor Gustau Violet: Art, thought and territory.

The Festa Major in Dance
A workshop where the boys and girls will make some of the characters from the Folklore of Sitges’ Fiesta Mayor in order to make them dance. Working with the puppet format, we will focus on the figures of the ball de bastons or the ball de gitanes, capsgrossos, and the Moixiganga, among others. During the workshop, the students will learn the value of toys made by themselves.

Gustau Violet a figure who acted as a bridge between the artists of Northern and Southern Catalonia during the initial dècades of the XX century.The exhibition presents 107 works from various collections, such as the Musee d'Art et d'Histoire in Narbonne, the National Museum of Art of Catalonia (MNAC), the Barcelona Museum of Design, ​​the Sabadell Art Museum and the Jaume Morera Art Museum (Lleida), among others and private collections.
