The visits to the Palau de Maricel and the Parish propose a journey through the history of Catalan art

The guided visits to the Maricel Palace and the Parish of Sant Bartomeu and Santa Tecla return this spring to the program of heritage activities and will be held periodically until the fall. Two of the most emblematic buildings of the town open to the public, on the initiative of the Sitges Heritage Consortium, to explore their interiors, get close to their history, admire their collections and know their secrets.

Completed in 1918, the Palau de Maricel is one of the architectural jewels of Sitges and an icon, together with all Maricel, of the Catalan Noucentisme. Guided tours will take place every Sunday, starting March 10th and until the summer, in which the activities of the Sitgestiu Cultural will take place, which also include visits to this building, although in a different format. Visits are every Sunday, in three hours and languages: at 11am (in English), at 12am (in Catalan) and at 1pm (in Spanish). During Holy Week there will be daily visits between Tuesday 16 and Sunday of Resurrection.

The itinerary by the Palau de Maricel reviews the corners of this emblematic building: the Golden Hall, the Blue Hall, the terraces and the cloister, from where you can enjoy privileged views of the Mediterranean.

In the Parish of Sant Bartomeu and Santa Tecla, the itinerary begins outside the church - with explanations of the history of the Baluard, the Frigate, the first knights, the vegueries and the transformations of the buikding and continues inside with a walk through the sarcophagi, the creeds and the set of baroque altarpieces. The visit presents one of the most important collections of sacred art in the country, thanks to the Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque images that are part of the collection of Dr. Jesús Pérez-Rosales. The itinerary also includes the ascent to the bell tower, which offers spectacular views of Sitges from the highest point of the Punta. The visits will take place on Saturday, from May 4th to October 5th.
