Three works from Cau Ferrat are on display on temporary exhibitions in Barcelona, Toulouse and Saint Petersburg. We are dealing here with two oils from Santiago Rusiñol and one from Ramon Pichot borrowed to outstanding exhibitions in these three cities, and that provide visibility to Cau Ferrat and its important collection that gains in importance in exhibitions specialized in the art from the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
The work of art that travelled further was Boulevard de Paris, Ramon Pichot (c.1898-1901), which is exposed at the exhibition Surrealism in Catalonia. The artists from Empordà and Salvador Dalí, at the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg. On the same exhibition, there are works by Salvador Dalí, Eliseu Meifrén, Caterina Albert, Josep Bonaterra, Frederic Marès and Jaume Turró, among others, from private collections and museums from all over Catalonia.
The work that traveled to Toulouse was La casa de prèstecs (The home loan) (1889), Santiago Rusiñol, to participate in the exhibition Fenêtres sûr cours, that was inaugurated Saturday at the Museum of the Augustins in the French city. The home loan is one of the first oils painted by Rusiñol in Paris and is considered one of the best works of his French stage. Last year, the restoration services of Museums of Sitges conducted a comprehensive restoration of the oil.
Another Rusiñol from Cau Ferrat also participates in a very important exhibition, Renoir among women, hosted by the Mapfre Foundation in Barcelona: it is the Park del Moulin de la Gallette (1891) located in a room with other works by Rusiñol and Catalan artists from the late nineteenth century. This exhibition also displays Ball al Moulin de la Gallete (1890-91) by Ramon Casas, but the painting returned to Sitges to participate in Ramon Casas special exhibition at the Maricel Museum.
