Guided visits to the Parish of Sant Bartomeu and Santa Tecla are one of the most characteristic proposals in recent times at the Museums of Sitges, in a clear commitment to bring the local heritage, in a playful and informative way, to the citizens as a whole. The initiative takes place one Saturday a month, and since last year it has been focusing especially on the summer season. In 2020, visits will last for seven months - one more than the year before - from May to November.
The schedule of the sessions adapts to the Masses that are celebrated every Saturday afternoon in the Parish. Therefore, between May and September, visits will be at 8.30pm. However, in October and November, they will advance to 17.30. The complete list of days and times can be consulted in a specific section of the website of Museums of Sitges, from where you can also check prices and discounts and automatically reserve tickets.
The Parish of Sitges, popularly known as the Punta, is one of the most unique and representative heritage icons of Sitges. Guided tours of the Museums allow you to trace the most important stages of the art history of Catalonia, from Romanesque to Noucentisme. The medieval past of the Baluart, the Fragata, the first feudal knights ... passing through the sarcophagi, the Credença family, the religious counter-reform of the 16th century and the set of Baroque altarpieces.
Visitors can also find one of the best collections of sacred art in the country, with images from four different artistic periods - Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque - that are included in the collection of Dr. Jesús Pérez-Rosales. The finishing touch of the itinerary is also one of the most anticipated moments: the ascent to the bell tower to contemplate Sitges and the Mediterranean from the highest point of the Punta.
