How was Maricel, once Charles Deering materialized his project devised by Miquel Utrillo? This is what proposes a new activity that the Museums of Sitges have incorporated into their calendar, on the occasion of the Maricel Centenary exhibition (1918-2018) . This is a guided tour of the interiors of the Maricel Palace and the Maricel Museum, as well as the exterior of the Santiago Rusiñol Library, the Casa Lola Anglada and the Historical Archive of Sitges, buildings included in the Maricel heritage ensemble.
The proposal is named after A walk through the Charles Deering´ Maricel and represents a trip to the past from the current perspective. The tour puts in value the whole of the architectural work, completed a hundred years ago and which was an icon of Noucentisme at the national level. The visit shows the overall project, taking advantage of the Maricel Centenary exhibition (1918-2018) , which is hosted by the Maricel Museum. The large scale model, installed in the Gothic Room of the Museum, together with the explanatory panels for the development of the project, allows the project to be dimensioned and contextualized.
The visit begins precisely at the exhibition of the Maricel Museum; Then it goes through the upper rooms, where he exhibits a part of the permanent collection, and then arrives at the Palau de Maricel crossing. the emblematic Fonollar street bridge. The bridge opened again to the public for specific visits last summer, after the renovation of the railing of the terraces of the Palau and the improvement of the façade of this building.
In the Palace, the visit takes place through various spaces (the Gold and Blue Halls, the cloister, the terraces ...) and then lower the stairs to the entrance to stop at the Racó de la Calma. Next, the route arrives at the back of the Town Hall, to know the exteriors of the three buildings in the other Maricel "vall" : the Library, the Casa Lola Anglada and the Historical Archive.
The participants finish the tour enjoying a glass of cava. All are offered with a Maricel guide made especially for the occasion (the guide will be available at the beginning of December and the participants of the first editions that have made the route before will be able to pick it up at the museums).
