Jazz and art come together at Maricel

Retrio is a jazz and popular music band that offers every Tuesday a selection of traditional pieces from Catalonia and Sitges, but with a Jazz and Swing rhythm. The audition will be at 7pm on the Maricel Museum, taking advantage of the fact that the space reopened doors just over six months ago.

Retrio concerts are one of the stable Sitgestiu Cultural events, the program of activities organized by the Museums of Sitges between July and September. This band from Sitges, founded in 2004, includes Oscar Ferret (piano), Joan Pinós (bass) and Pinyu Martí (drums).

In an idyllic atmosphere such as the Gothic Room of the Maricel Museum, the public enjoys an intimate and informative show, because beyond the interpretation of musical pieces, the group also makes a brief explanation of the works present in space, among which is the Gothic altarpiece of Sant Salvador, attributed to Jaume Cabrera or oils from Santiago Rusiñol and Ramon Casas, right next to the lookout with Noucentista sculptures overlooking the Mediterranean.

For Joan Pinós, "the reduced format of the concert is the main reason why our concert and other Sitgestiu events are possible." While the audience is listening to pieces such as La Santa Espina or Els goigs del Vinyet, they also attend to a detailed explanation of the works around them.

The dates of upcoming concerts are on 21 and 28 July; 4, 11, 18 and 25 August and Tuesday 1 September. The entrance fee is 12 Euros and can be booked by calling 93 894 03 64.
