Christmas visits the Museums of Sitges with activities for the whole family

The installation of the carp on La Frigate and the lighting of decorative street lamps shows that Christmas has arrived to Sitges. This year's institutional campaign, called Sitges, your Christmas , brings together more than thirty proposals that will be extended until the beginning of January and, one more year, the Museums also contribute to the programming of activities specially designed to enjoy with family.

The first round of proposals will take place next weekend. On Friday 14th, at Cau Ferrat, the presentation of the last Piece of the Month of the Year . As usual, the session will be dedicated to a Christmas motive and, on this occasion, the chosen work has been Sculptures de la Nativitat , by the Valencian Damià Forment. La presentació anirà a càrrec de Joan Yeguas, conservador del Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya especialitzat en els períodes del Renaixement i el Barroc.

L’endemà dissabte, dia 15, ració doble. Al matí, sortida cultura fins al CaixaFòrum de Barcelona per a fer visites guiades a les exposicions Toulouse-Lautrec i l’esperit de Montmarte i Velázquez i el Segle d’Or. A la tarda, al Palau de Maricel, un nou recital de nadales amb la coral internacional Sitges Canta!, que oferirà cançons tradicionals de diferents països.

L’altra proposta dels Museus per a les dates nadalenques són els tallers familiars. Després de la creació del Calendari d’Advent, a finals de novembre, el següent serà el de la Carta als Reis, previst per al 3 de gener. L’altre taller forma part del cicle Les Col·leccions d’Art, que s’organitza conjuntament amb l’Escola Pia de Sitges, i estarà dedicat a la Col·lecció de Vidre del Cau Ferrat.

A part de les activitats especials d’aquests dies, els Museus mantenen l’agenda habitual durant les setmanes de Nadal, amb les visites guiades a l’exposició del Centenari de Maricel i les visites lliures a la quarta mostra de la col·lecció permanent de la Fundació Stämpfli. Els únics dies que estaran tancats són el 25 i el 26 de desembre i l’1 i el 6 de gener. A més, durant el període nadalenc, els aparadors de Can Falç es tornaran a decorar amb productes de la botiga dels Museus de Sitges, que oferiran promocions exclusives als clients. The presentation will be given by Joan Yeguas, curator of the National Art Museum of Catalonia specializing in the Renaissance and Baroque periods.

The other workshop is part of the Collections of Art series, which is organized jointly with the Escola Pia de Sitges, and will be dedicated to the Glass Collection of Cau Ferrat.

Apart from the special activities of these days, the Museums maintain the usual schedule during the Christmas weeks, with guided visits to the Maricel Centenary exhibition and free visits to the fourth exhibition of the permanent collection of the Stämpfli Foundation. The only days that will be closed will be on December 25 and 26 and on January 1 and 6. In addition, during the Christmas period, Can Falç's shop windows will be re-decorated with products from the Sitges Museums shop, which will offer exclusive promotions to customers.
