‘Patrimoni actiu’
"A museum is a nonprofit permanent institution at the serviceof society and open to the public, which acquires, preserves, studies, exhibits and publishes the tangible and intangible heritage of humanity, for purposes of study, education and leisure ".
ICOM, the International Council of Museums (2007)
Following the restoration, conditioning and refurbishment project of all buildings of Maricel de Mar Museum, Can Rocamora and Cau Ferrat Museum in Sitges during the the summer of 2010, the tasks of moving the collections of Cau Ferrat and Maricel to reserve hall were prepared.
When we started the rehabilitation works of buildings to ensure their preservation, to adapt them to museum functions and regulations and make them accessible to all areas, with both museums closed, we initiated various activities to the collections active.
The lines of work carried out were buying, studying, exhibiting, promoting and educating.
ACQUIRE
We have implemented an active policy to increase the artistic collections through donations and purchases. Most are now part of the permanent exhibition and other should be used to enhance the quality of collections and participate in future permanent or temporary exhibitions.
